Based on an earlier short film, The One and Only Herb Maguire Plays Wallis Island, which was written by and stars Tim Key and Tom Basden.

Old tensions resurface when former bandmates Herb (Basden) and Nell (Carey Mulligan), who were once lovers, are reunited for a private show at the island home of an eccentric millionaire (Key).

We screen ten monhtly films a year, from September through June. The current licensing landscape makes it difficult to plan for/book films too far in advance, so we’ve adopted a month-to-month model. This allows us to keep quite current in our programming. Any upcoming films displayed below.

The Ballad of Wallis Island

The Ballad of Wallis Island follows Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and dreams of getting his favorite musicians, Mortimer-McGwyer (Carey Mulligan and Tom Basden) back together. His fantasy quickly turns into reality when the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.

The Life of Chuck

A life-affirming, genre-bending story based on Stephen King’s novella about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz.

We aim to offer a programme that covers a broad range of genres and interests, in the hopes of appealing to as wide an audience as possible.

As well as our regular screenings, we also work within the community to offer additional screening events–click below to find out more.

Our final four films for March-June will be announced at our February screening of Moonage Daydream.
